The owner, Silvia Pulido, says the club's opening was inspired by her four children, who were all raised in Jacksonville, Florida. After high school, three of the children left the United States to pursue the medical profession in Costa Rica, where they enjoyed a unique Latin nightlife. Since their return, Silvia was inspired to give Jacksonville a high-end nightclub infused with her native Latin culture.
Cuba Libre offers Latin music; a dance floor; a large-screen projection television; plush leather couches; beautiful, native art work; and exotic drinks native to the Caribbean. One of the special drinks that is served is the "Mojito". This drink was first mixed in Cuba and made famous worldwide by author Ernest Hemingway. There is a Happy Hour with drink specials and appetizers, along with regular special events.
